Celebrate the Small Things Hop

vik - small things 2I’m here and ready to Celebrate the Small Things! If you are new to this blog hop, all you have to do is sign up on the linky below if you want to join! If you already have, then go around to each blog that signed up and congratulate or just say YAY to everyone and their accomplishments for this week! (Full instructions at our host Vikki’s post here!)

So, in my writing world, I’m basically on the crest of 70K for my WIP. I will admit that, at times, I’m starting to feel like a failure. I was supposed to have this manuscript done ages ago and sent out to CPs to review so I could have it ready for my conference in July. My other friends going to the conference were able to get theirs all done, why can’t I? I blame it on an overactive idea generator in that I’m trying to fit too much into my story that needs to be there …but I’m too close to it to really know which way to go with it. It seems like it will never end but I just keep plugging along on it and slowly but surely, the “scene list” of the ones I have to finish are getting smaller. So those are the small things I’m celebrating this week …the scenes I completed that push me towards the finish line even when I think it is nowhere in sight. They may not seem like much now, especially when I feel so far behind, but pile them all together and they make the story! So they are significant…in their small ways πŸ™‚

Also, for my blog, I hit the 100 followers count. Wooohooo!! Hello to all my new followers and old! I can’t believe since I started this blog less than a year ago that so many of you have found it worthy of following along! I promise once this manuscript is completed I will be back to posting more often. Until then, cheers!

What did you celebrate this week? Let me know in the comments or join the hop and I will find out on your blog!

  1. Congratulations on your followers! Definitely a great celebration. And a big congrats at realizing your scheme of writing your WIP is the way to go, and hopefully those doubts will stay way by the way side. Have a great time at your conference.

  2. I am right there with you, the closer I am to finishing…the farther away I get. There are so many great writing contests going on this summer I want to participate it, but I also want to put my best work forward. You’ll get it done! You should check out writeoncon if you haven’t before, it’s in August and a really online conference. And you can always enter one of the contests. The agent lineups lately have been amazing. And congrats on 100 followers πŸ™‚

  3. Great things to celebrate! That first draft of the first book is something no one can rush. I keep thinking I’ll be done by a certain point and then life distracts me. As long as you’re still writing often (and don’t take too long a break) then you’re doing awesome!
