I’m at it again doing The Broke and the Bookish Top 10 for Tuesday list. This week, the list is for Top 10 words/topics that instantly make me buy/pick up a book! I thought this was going to be kind of a hard one, but after I thought about it for a few minutes, the topics/words just flew out of me. Check out what I came up with, and then let me know what would be on your list! Continue reading

Top Ten Books I Thought I’d Like MORE/LESS Than I Did
I thought I’d start in on The Broke and the Bookish Tuesday topic of Top 10s lists because …I just like reasons to talk about books. That’s basically it! Well, I also need to get back into blogging more regularly here on my site as well. I got caught up in The Writer Diaries and kind of forgot about my own blogging. There are still a lot of personal tips and reflections I have to make for myself, so this blog isn’t going anywhere! Now that The Writer Diaries is up on its feet and in its third month, I can pull back a bit and take care of my own blog again.
So anyways, onto my lists! The topic for this Tuesday is, Top 10 Books I Thought I’d like More/Less than I actually did. Continue reading
2013 Writerly Resolutions Update: First Quarter
Do you how much can change in a quarter of a year? A LOT. Man, I’m going in a totally different direction than I thought I would be when I started 2013. But I LOVE IT. This past quarter has been my biggest and best in the writing world. I have met so many cool people and put myself out there more than I ever have before. It’s definitely been scary most of the time but always worth it!
The biggest thing that doesn’t even reflect in my original goals for this year is that I started up The Writer Diaries – a group blog of writers sharing our deepest secrets. And it has been AMAZING! If you are a writer out there and are scared to jump into the crazy world of Twitter and blogs and meeting people, trust me when I say YOU SHOULD JUST DO IT! Best thing I ever did. To always be surrounded by people who love books and writing as much as you is so great. I don’t feel so alone in my struggles. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t see someone tweet something or see a gif or read a blog from a writer and think “OMG, I know exactly how that feels!” You’re not alone, so stop trying to be!
Anyways, back to my resolutions, I have done “decent” on them so far if I want to grade myself. Let’s go through the list though and see! Continue reading

Review of The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay
Um. Seriously. Wow. No words. Blown away. Can’t stop thinking about it. Incredible. Unbelievable. Wow.
So if you couldn’t tell already, I just cannot find the words to express how much I loved LOVED LURRRRVED The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay. Like honestly, new favorite book of ALL TIME.
Maybe it’s mostly because it’s the kind of book that I want to write myself. It’s lyrical, it’s powerful, it’s got deep and dark themes, it made me ball my eyes out, it has characters that were so real they walked out of the pages and said hello to me…all that good stuff.
But seriously. Wow.
I never wanted it to end and I was so sad when it was over, I started reading it again. This is a super big deal since my TBR list is growing uncontrollably long.
I guess you are ready for the official description of the book then? Ok, here it is: Continue reading
