Week 3 here at Celebrate the Small Things! If you are new to this blog hop, all you have to do is sign up on the linky below if you want to join! If you already have, then go around to each blog that signed up and congratulate or just say YAY to everyone and their accomplishments for this week! (Full instructions at our host Vikki’s post here!)
Writing related: I made it to 40K big ones this past week! I feel like I am closing in on my story and it will be the most loveliest day of all days when I complete that first draft and have a whole flowing manuscript! It will still need to be hacked up with my red machete (also known as the evil editing pen) but at least it will be a finished piece. My first rough draft of a real novel! I get so excited to just thinking about it!
I also decided to put myself out there even MORE and plan to attend the Midwest Writer’s Conference in Muncie, Indiana this July. I am super nervous just thinking about sitting in front of an agent and pitching my story, but worrying about that is for another time and day. I even think my wonderful friend Vicki Orians will be joining me at the conference, so at least there will be some friends to hang out with too!
As far as non-related accomplishments go, I got some cleaning done around the house and did somewhere around five loads of laundry. Our furnace started acting up and my wonderful hubby was able to fix it, so no extra bills! The furnace lives to breathe out hot air for another day! Oh, and I joined the smartphone world with a Samsung Galaxy S 3 – as if I needed another device to distract me from writing!
What did you celebrate this week? Let me know in the comments or join the hop and I will find out on your blog!

Congrats again on the 40k! You guys will have a blast at the writer’s convention – so jealous! And welcome to the smart phone world. You can kiss your attention span goodbye! π
Thanks Jen! And yes I already kissed my attention span goodbye after the phone had been in my hands for all of 3 seconds.
Sounds like you’ve had a great week, Jen! May your weekend be as wonderful!
40k?! amazing! and i am going to check out that midwest conference. its right next door!
Please let me know if you do! Love to meet writer friends!
40K, Laundry done, a writer’s conference planned – sounds like you had an awesome week!
Woot woot! Yay 40K!!!!
I have yet to do laundry…. I guess I do it now I can still celebrate that for this week π
I hate cleaning, but I love things organized and smelling fresh. Here’s to the motivation to see to all of that.
Congrats on the 40k and the conference plans !! HOW EXCITING!
Congrats on reaching 40k! The conference sounds fun, I’ve never been to one but they sound really good.
Each time someone says they finished their manuscript I feel I must speed up and finish mine already. Congratulations and best of lucks with the writer’s conference. Always helpful to have your own handyman, hahaha. But watch out with that phone. π
Yes for sure ..so many friends are finishing up their drafts or editing and I just want my story to be complete and to share it with someone!!! So frustrating to wait until I actually have it written out π
Excellent on the 40,000 words. I’m excited to hear you say you finished. π I’m looking forward to that. You’ll have a blast at the conference. Agents are just people. You’re interviewing them as much as they’re interviewing you. http://www.mpaxauthor.com
Trust me, you will know when i finish. The WORLD will know because I won’t be able to stop talking about it π
I don’t know which is more impressive, the 40k or the 5 loads of laundry – either way, you’re Superwoman as far as I’m concerned! π
Funny how we latch onto numbers – well done with the 40K words!
I think the numbers really help propel me forward. Every time I reach a 10K mark I just feel so awesome for reaching the next step!
Great job with your writing. It can be so difficult reaching the goals you want. I’m happy for you, and hope the editing will go smoother than you think! The conference will be thrilling and fun.
40K plus the thought of a writer’s conference on the horizon…. sounds heavenly! Congratulations!
Writing conferences are such a whirlwind. They go much too fast. Every moment is spent learning something, networking, or pitching yourself. But they are so worth it. Soak it up and good luck!
