This one required a lot out of me. It took many hours, redoing a more detailed outline, and writing, writing, writing until my fingers fell off. But I should have expected it for the BIG 5-0.
This feat is particularly important to me because sitting on 50,000 words, I am only 10K away from the average book length. I know that this does not mean by reaching 60,000 my novel will magically be completed, but it does mean that I will have written enough words that are in the average novel size. And that is so very awesome!
I have a lot more to go in my story so I don’t have to worry about things being too short. Although, looking at how much I have left and staying within an acceptable word count, I think there will definitely need to be some things cut and re-arranged. But that should be expected for a first draft of a first book EVER.
My goal is to complete this first draft by March 1st and I think I am on track still to accomplish that. It is just going to take a lot more effort and time and writing, writing, writing until my fingers fall off again (don’t worry, I have plenty of super glue for this very problem).
But seriously, people. We are getting down to the nitty gritty here. Either my next 10K post or the post after that should be my finale celebration explosion of happiness! The only thing that I think will be able to top the happiness level I will be at when I finish this first draft will be the day an agent calls me and says they would love to represent me.
We have a long way to go before that day arrives. But oh, it will arrive.
Congratulations!
Thank you so much!
You can totally hit 60K by March 1! Go, go, go!
But take a bit to celebrate this accomplishment as well [g]
Congratulations on hitting 50k words!
Yay!! Congrats on hitting 50k! 🙂 You can definitely get 60,000 by March!
This is awesome, congratulations!! And I have no doubt you will meet your March 1 goal. Yay! I am looking forward to reading your celebration of happiness post. 🙂
What a huge accomplishment! Congratulations!
You can do it! This alone is awesome 😉
When I hit my 50k I was so tired I didn’t even notice until I made it to 53k, shame! Now i’m down to about 58k since i’ve been revising and cutting out a lot of words, this part doesn’t feel so nice but like you, I’m hoping for a good solid 60k by March 1st 🙂
This is awesome! I am at 42K and closing in on 50K. I sure hope my hubby does something awesome to celebrate my 50K word count too! Yours gets huge brownie points! =) Haha! GREAT JOB!
