What I am super thankful for this week is other awesome writers and the awesome books they put out. This past week, I believe I read my new favorite book of all time. I know, a big deal right?? I couldn’t put it down, I was sad when it was over, and I started reading it again right away. It was that good. I also think I liked it so much because it’s exactly the kind of book that I want my story to be like – lyrical, powerful, insightful, honest, heartbreaking, hopeful. Every feely word you can think of, it was. Oh, you want to know the book I read? Of course I will tell you!! The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay. AH-MAZE-ING. Seriously, stop whatever you are doing right now and read it. I’ll wait….
On top of reading such an amazing book, it also got me motivated to get back into the groove of writing mine. I have kind of gone on a hiatus since my Lit class because I needed some time to just unwind. But I think I will be back at my writing again full force this weekend.
Another random small thing that happened this week is that my younger sister asked me to help her with her art project. I forgot how much I miss doing art and I got engrossed on helping her shade her black and white pencil drawing. When I held it up and she exclaimed, “Wow, it looks so much better!” I got all the happy feels 🙂
What did you celebrate this week? Let me know in the comments or join the hop and I will find out on your blog!

I love it when you find a book like that, they’re so rare! They tend to take up a lot of time though, what with the re-reading, but it’s so worth it! 🙂
Ahhh the feeling of a wonderful book, Le Sigh…
Glad you were able to unwind a little and spent some time with your sister AND Art!
Have fun writing this weekend 😉
Breaks are nice and not only that, they are needed. I took one too, and have recently pulled my ink out of the draw I hid it in, so I wouldn’t be tempted to ignore my break:)
Those are great feel-good celebrations you’ve had. It’s great to have that warm feeling inside evoked outward.
I will put that book on my to read list 😉 And get writing missy so I can read more!
Aside from writing, drawing is the one activity that can make my heart bounce with joy. Good for you!
I love finding books like that! 🙂
Now you’ve got me wondering about that book!
It’s great that you and your sister shared some wonderful artistic moments…
Books like that are so wonderful! It’s great that your rediscovered your love of art and had fun with your sister too!
Hello J.A.! I’m new to your blog, having just hopped over here from the linky list on VikLit’s site, but I’m already loving it! I totally understand what you mean about reading great works- I’ve been busy all day with the amazing shorts for #FridayFlash and i’m so grateful to know so many amazing writers. Lovely to meet you, and hope to see you around the blogosphere!
Love, Bev
That’s great. I’ve not read a book that I’ve loved in a long time. And keep going with your writing so that your book becomes someone’s favourite one day 🙂
Yay for awesome books! I love that feeling when I get totally engrossed and don’t want to leave the fiction world. It’s reading bliss.
And very cool that your sister turns to you for help with art. That’s a nice way to unwind and spend some quality family time.
